Adhesive Bandage After Care Instructions
Step1: Keep the bandage on for 3-4 days.
During this time, it is normal to see some fluid buildup beneath the bandage. After 3-4 days, remove the
bandage gently under warm running water. To take the bandage off you must stretch from each side
rather than peel it off like a Bandaid. When you stretch the bandage, it allows the adhesive to come off
the skin without disrupting the tattoo and taking any ink with it. It may look like ink is stuck to the
bandage, no worries, this is normal. If your bandage stays on for the full 3-4 days DO NOT USE
OINTMENT UNLESS DIRECTED BY YOUR ARTIST
Step 2: Wash the tattoo with a mild, anti-bacterial fragrance-free soap and warm water. Gently
blot your tattoo with a dry, clean paper towel. Don't use cloth towels or reuse paper towels, as these things can
harbor bacteria. Let the tattoo air dry completely. It's very important to keep your tattoo clean, so repeat this process
about three times daily
Step 3: After discontinuing use of bandage, you can use a basic unscented lotion (Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc). DO NOT
moisturize your tattoo with Vaseline and do not over apply lotion– this does not let the skin and the new
tattoo breathe. Continue this step until completely healed.
If you feel like you need to take the bandage off before the 3-4 day period call the shop or refer to
our online basic care sheet.
General Tattoo Aftercare Tips
A tattoo is an open wound that must be cared for very well to prevent infection and damage to the tattoo's
appearance.
Avoid soaking your tattoo. Take ten-minute-or-less showers to avoid over-saturation. During the first two
weeks of healing, do not take baths, go swimming, or use saunas, hot tubs, etc. Sea water, chlorinated
water, and fresh water all contain potentially dangerous and harmful bacteria.
Keep your tattoo protected from the sun. This is imperative during the first several weeks of healing. After
your tattoo heals, sun exposure will still cause it to fade, so be sure to use a high SPF sunblock for the life
of your tattoo.
Some jobs can be very dangerous for a fresh tattoo, so be sure to ask your tattooist about any special
recommendations regarding your work.
Do not shave or use hair removing products on your tattoo until it has finished healing.
Do not hesitate to call or e-mail Evol Tattoo with any questions regarding your healing process.

Ointment After Care Instructions
Step 1: Remove the bandage one hour after your tattoo session. Be sure to wash and rinse your hands before touching or washing your tattoo. Lather mild anti-bacterial soap and warm water between your hands, and gently wash your tattoo for about thirty seconds. Rinse with cold water afterwards to close the pores and prevent "weeping". Step 2: Gently blot your tattoo with a dry, clean paper towel. Don't use cloth towels or reuse paper towels, as these things can harbor bacteria. Let the tattoo air dry completely. It's very important to keep your tattoo clean, so repeat this process about three times daily. Step 3: When your tattoo is fully dry, apply a thin layer of non-medicated tattoo ointment (A&D, Aquaphor). Do not over apply ointment. Discontinue use of ointment after 3 days. DO NOT USE TRIPLE ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT, using these will pull the ink out of your skin. Step 4: After discontinuing use of ointment, you can switch to a basic unscented lotion (Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc). DO NOT moisturize your tattoo with Vaseline and do not over apply lotion– this does not let the skin and the new tattoo breathe. Continue this step until completely healed.
